How to Set Up and Use Your Claude Connectors
Connectors turn Claude from a chat window into an operations layer. Once a tool is connected, Claude reads your live data from it and acts on it, with no copy-pasting. This is not a list of links. It is the full walkthrough: what connectors are, how to install both kinds, what each of the 33 does, when to reach for it, a prompt to try, and the multi-step workflows that chain them together.
Part 1: What a connector actually is
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets Claude talk to an outside tool safely. The tool runs a small server that exposes its data and actions. Claude calls that server mid-chat, reads what it needs, and can write back.
The difference is everything. "Claude with a browser" guesses from public pages. A connector reads YOUR live HubSpot, GA4 or Shopify and acts on it. That is the jump from a chatbox to an operations layer.
Two kinds exist:
- Pre-configured (one-click): already in Claude's connector directory. You toggle it on and log in.
- Custom MCP: you point Claude at the tool's own server (a URL, a CLI command, or a GitHub repo).
That’s the first part. The rest of this guide is free too.
