Why your AI site looks cheap: 3 files and 2 tools

Claude guesses when you give it nothing. Three files (context.md, copy.md, design.md) give it the facts and two free tools give it taste. Real example files, the tested build prompt and the fixes.

Why your AI site looks cheap

We tested it. Same brief both times: "Build a one-page landing page for a small coffee shop called Northside Coffee, with a hero, the menu, opening hours and a map."

Build

What Claude did

Plain Claude, empty folder

Made up 15 prices, a phone number, "since 2016" and social links, and put the map in London. The page looked polished and said nothing about any of it being made up.

With the 3 files

All 9 prices, the address and the hours matched copy.md word for word. The only colours and fonts on the page were the ones in design.md.

My own site, charliehills.ai, works the same way. The same three files sit in its folder, and Claude reads them before it builds anything.

That’s the first part. The rest of this guide is free too.
